The week went ok
This morning I weighed in at 245.6. I guess that is what matters here. I know for a fact losing weight too fast is not the best way. The "experts" say two pounds a week is ideal. I become impatient with that. After being so successful with Weightwatchers a few years back, all the weight I lost came back. This past week consisted of better choices of eating as well as portion control and limited snacking. I did still indulge a glass of wine two of the nights, which is far less than before. I hit the gym twice as well as my kickboxercise class two times. Here is to the week coming up just as successful.

Day Off!!
Absolutely delicious dinner last night. I will post the recipe. It was a sesame chicken recipe. Anyway, as good as it was, I had 1 serving and no wine. All of this followed a great kickboxercise class. We did a bit of sparring which is the best aerobic exercise around. Down a few pounds now as a result. 246.4 this morning!
Today is Valentines day and a very busy day while the love of my life is working all day, I will be out and about running errands with Sean Jr. I am planning a nice dinner tonight with steak, caesar salad, and potato wedges coated with olive oil, rosemary, and sea salt. I definitely need to find time for the gym today. Have a great day!

Good Morning!!
It is Sunday morning and yesterday started my abstinence from any alcoholic beverages. This is to help jump start my metabolism into higher gear. We are hosting a wine tasting party in 2 weeks, so I would like to be a few pounds less. Without any "nightcaps", I will go to bed earlier, wake up earlier, enabling more time and energy to exercise. I must keep my diet in order these next 2 weeks or the effort will be for nothing. Today should be a good day despite what seems to be an incredibly long winter. A healthy dish planned for dinner (sesame chicken over whole grain wild rice), and kickboxercise class after work today. Have a great day!!

Here We Go!
So far so good. I ate well today, drank lots of water, and took my vitamins. I am tracking calories on both weight watchers.com and body media (bodybugg). Both of these sites give different stats that are interesting and helpful to me. Went to the gym today. Jog/walk on the treadmill. Went 2.08 miles in 32 minutes. I am not going to push too hard my first week on the treadmill as I am prone to shin splints. Those are no fun. Lifted free weights for 30 minutes. I did all shoulder exercises. I hurt my right shoulder a few days ago in karate. I am going to work on strengthening the shoulders.
The difficult part that I always have is I start thinking about the evening ahead. I am used to enjoying wine every night with my wife. But once the first glass is consumed, all my judgement changes. Then it turns into 2,3, and even 4 glasses. Then judgement is really off so now it is time to eat some snacks. The calories are packing on now. After all that wine at night, too tired to get up early the next morning and exercise. That scenario is what has turned everything into a vicious cycle I am trying to break.
Still got kickboxercise and karate class ahead of me tonight. It is shaping up to be a healthy day for me. How is your day going?

Weight Watchers.com
Last night while watching the super bowl and enjoying my "last hurrah" with my family, I decided to promote this blog on some of the weight watchers forums. I have been a long time member of weight watchers and have had tremendous success with their program in past years. I felt very comfortable going to a few different message boards on their site and saying "Hey, I am trying something different, come check out my new blog". The feedback was surprisingly harsh at first. I was being called "weird" and "creepy". Some thought I was spamming. Well none of that is true. I am looking to promote this blog to help myself and others like me.
With all that being said I did my weigh in this morning on my "weight watchers scale" and weighing in at a whopping 253.2 pounds. Time to put my money where my mouth is and start on track with a better lifestyle.
My plan is to:
I have a full day ahead of me. Monday is my only day off and usually the busiest. Need to plow snow from driveway, go to the gym, make a healthy dinner, and go to martial arts class tonight. I will let you know how I make out.

- Weight training
- No alcoholic beverages for 2 weeks (and very limited after that)
